Nitrogen seems to be the new thing. You get your tires filled with Nitrogen. This is supposed to keep the tire pressure longer. If you go get your oil changed at a quick lube or other place they'll ask if you want your tire pressure checked, then they'll look and see the green cap on your valve. "Oh, I shouldn't check that. It's filled with Nitrogen. We only have air." Hmmmmmmm.
So now gas stations are saying: Nitrogen "enriched" gasoline will keep your engine clean and running smoothly. Nitrogen enriched!
Let's think about this. Where do they get the nitrogen? In fact what is the richest resource of freely available nitrogen available to man? Here's a pie chart to help us out.
Alright so what is that chart all about anyway? Well, if it isn't too obvious, that is the chemical composition of........wait for it.......air. So, if you want nitrogen in your tires, use air! Brilliant!
When they "enrich" their gasoline with nitrogen.....they're pumping it full of air. Nice. So not only are you paying more for your gasoline, you're getting less of it.
Now I'm sure that there is "science" to back all their claims but there was science a few years ago claiming that eggs are healthy. Then recently they claimed that eggs are not healthy. No! No! Eggs can kill you. Yes, even one egg a day can put you at risk.
The same with those "oxy" chemicals. Yes they infuse your detergent with oxygen? What is the most abundant source of oxygen other than air? Why that would be the chemical H2O. Water! So what you're telling me that by using water, you can clean almost anything? What a revelation!
What gets me the most about this type of hype is not just that they think that we are stupid enough to fall for it, it's the fact that most people ARE stupid enough to fall for it. And, the fact is that even if we were to complain, it would result in nothing. Do you think any group of people could afford the lawyers it would take to go against a mega corporation like...(insert name of any corporation here)...?
No one is getting hurt by it other than in their pocket books and because there is no other source for some of these things(ie: we don't have a back yard refinery), the likelyhood that a judge would take this seriously is nonexistent.
All we can do is NOT buy into the hype. But, when every other company out there starts to follow suit, what do you do?
This world is a mess of corruption and if you are not in it, you're suffering because of it. Society needs a fresh start. It'll come one day and it may not be in the form that you would expect. One day we will be stewards of this planet once again instead of a cancer feeding off of it.
